Emoji or Emoticons are becoming popular to express one’s feelings. People prefer using emoji over textual representation of feeling. Recently Whats app have updated its Emoji collections by adding different emoticons to express one’s feelings or may be patriotism.
People loved the Whats app idea of introducing different country flags in emoticons , different color tone and couple representation. So the Emoji s are actually promoting diversity and significance in people raising acceptance for others’ life style, race or beliefs.
But a girl named Rayouf Alhumedhi ,a Saudi teenager living in Germany raised a question for Hijab Emoji. She has got a view that there should be emoticon representing the women wearing head scarf. As there is emoji wearing turban representing Sikh community which is quiet good.
Hijab emoji will represent women from different communities wearing scarf like Orthodox Jews, Orthodox Christian and Muslims as well. These are the communities who feel pride for wearing Hijab.
She had submitted her idea to Unicode Consortium for approval. Unicode Consortium approves emoji s . Her idea won the backing of Alexis Ohanian by Reddit a social media, social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website. A graphic artist has made the Hijab emoji waiting for approval by Unicode Consortium.
If it will be approved ,soon it will be on your keyboards providing a way for people to show their tolerance and liberty in other’s beliefs and life style.
