The government of Pakistan has launched online passport renewal service for the overseas Pakistani, started from today.

Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, while addressing a news conference at Islamabad, said that the overseas Pakistani will now be able to get their passports renewed at their residences abroad.

Interior Ministry is planning to expand the passport renewal e-service within Pakistan in coming six months, and across the country in the next two years.

Nisar further added that the government is committed to provide people the best services by streamlining the national identity card and passport application process.

Pakistan is a country of over 200 million people and there are just 95 passport offices across the country, creating a lot of problem for the people interested to go abroad for work or for studies. Although, the government is planning to increase the number of passport offices, but it will take time to materialize.

Online passport renewal service can be a good step by Interior Ministry to reduce the long queues at passport offices and help people renew their passports with just few clicks while sitting at their homes.
