Rafia is the first female member of the Bomb Disposal Unit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Pakistan. All the dangerous tasks like disposing bombs, flying fighter jets, fire fighting and defending our homeland are always considered a man’s job. But now Women are breaking these stereotypes. Maryam Mukhatar was one of the example of such ladies going beyond the horizons to make themselves a pride for their homeland.
Especially in the Pakistani community its a very hard step for a women to go beyond the defined standards and do something incredible. Rafia is also one of the brave ladies who joined the KPK Bomb Disposal Squad and she is the first one not in Pakistan but even in Asia to do so.
Rafia wants to defend her homeland from terrorists and for this purpose she volunteered her to join police. She says that the day when she joined KPK Police, a blast occurred near session court and this event made her realize to do something to make safe her homeland from terrorist attacks.
Rafia has avery strong message for the Women of Pakistan:
“A woman can turn any hardship into ease if she is willing.”
Moreover Rafia says that:
“My country is my home… the Pakistani nation is my family.”
