Telenor Pakistan has reduced the taxes for the customers living in the federal capital — Islamabad. Starting from 21st September, 18.5 percent Federal Excise Duty (FED) tax will be applicable on calls, SMS packages & for call setup instead of 19.5 percent.

Punjab government imposed 19.5 percent Internet tax in annual budget 2016-17 due to which Telenor decided to increase the tariffs from August 22nd. It announced to impose the same tax of 19.5% for all Pakistani customers in order to match the government of Punjab imposition.

But now they decided to reduce it to 18.5 percent for Islamabad customers. The latest move will benefit the people of Islamabad as they will be charged one percent less FED tax.

Telenor is one of the most popular and second largest cellular operator in Pakistan which has around 37 million loyal customers. Telenor acquired a license for providing GSM services in Pakistan in April 2004, and launched its services commercially in Karachi, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi on 15 March 2005. It expanded its services to Lahore, Faisalabad and Hyderabad on 23 March 2005.

Recently, Telenor launched 4G services in Pakistan which will certainly going to increase its subscribers as mobile broadband is getting popular in the country. Before this, Zong and Warid were the only 4G operators in Pakistan.
