Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) warned the passengers on Sunday against carrying the newly-released Samsung Galaxy Note 7 after the reports that defective batteries in the new smartphone caused some handsets to explodes. The news came just after one day when US safety commission issued a press release barring its readers from using the smartphone Note 7.
“In view of recent reports about Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices, and the international warnings to airline passengers not to carry this smartphone during flights, PIA passengers are also strongly advised not to carry it, not even in their check-in luggage, as it may compromise aircraft and passenger safety”, said in the statement issued by national carrier.
Moreover, Danyal Gilani – PIA’s official spokesperson and General Manager public affairs – tweeted to caution the passengers to avoid carrying Galaxy Note 7 on board.

It is important to note here that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 isn’t launched in Pakistan yet. Also many PIA flights do not offer in-flight charging facility for phones. The facility is only offered for the passengers of PIA Premier — the newly launched premier service by Pakistan International Airlines in last month.
PIA is not the only airline which banned Galaxy Note 7 on flights. Earlier, airlines from United Arab Emirates (UAE), Australia, USA & India have also taken similar safety measures by asking customers not to use or recharge Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on board.
